Mechanical and Engine Room
Large Walk-in Engine Room w/Twin John Deere Lugger Diesel Engines! 1-1/2 dia. Prop Shafts driving 24 dia. 4-Blade bronze Propellers w/dripless shaft logs. Twin Rudders w/Load Bearing prop protecting skegs/rudder shoes. We were very interested to find out what my boat burned in fuel while bringing it to Hawaii. Our most ideal cruising speed is between 7.5 ? 8.0 knots which is about 1650 rpm on my engines. At 1650 rpm we burned exactly 1.3 gallons per engine per hour. That is a total of 2.6 gallons and hour at cruising speed. This is far less than any other trawlers single or twin engines that I know of. We figure that the boat burns about 65 gallons a day, that is a 24 hour period. We left Ensenada Mexico with 1050 gallons on board and when we hit Hawaii 14 days later we had estimated that we burned about 980 gallons and that included the gen set running about five hours a day. These engines are also the top of the line not your run of the mill Yanmars that most of the Great Harbors have. At a top speed of 9.5 knots we burn about 3.5 gallons an hour per engine. Weather the fuel prices are up or down there is not another trawler in this class that burns less than the Great Harbors. I can tell you that this boat right now new from the factory would cost almost 600K. When I built it I had into it 465K and that did not include about 30K bringing it to Hawaii. I talked to the factory the other day about the sale and they could not believe that I was asking an unreasonably low price for the boat. At 350K it is a steal!
